BOOTLE
A forgotten industrial town on the outskirts of Liverpool. A place where unemployment is high, addiction is rife, and automatic weapons are used on the streets.
The Descent
One day, Cheet’s daft choices finally catch up with him. A misunderstanding at the benefits office turns into an outright altercation, leaving him with no income and few options.
Desperate to get back on his feet, he turns to his old friend Smig and takes what should be a low-risk job trimming weed plants. But another daft mistake cocks everything up, putting them on the radar of the underworld’s rising star, Steven Dawick.
Cheet and his gang escape by the skin of their teeth, but leave casualties in their wake. Dawick wants revenge, and a rivalry is set in motion.
Steven Dawick
Rising star of the underworld on a mission to claim the streets as his own. He's a ruthless, dangerous killer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants: Cheet dead.
The Life Bleeds Through
What starts as a way to make ends meet quickly becomes something much bigger. Cheet struggles to keep his stories straight as his criminal life begins bleeding into the one he’s desperate to protect.
Violence creeps closer to their front door. Cheet disappears until late into the night. Jack grows suspicious. Friends become harder to trust. And as Cheet starts making real money, the possibility of the normal life he wanted begins slipping further away.
The Two Sisters
For Cheet, the saving grace in a world of trouble is Lauren, Jack’s nurse. She sees first-hand how hard Cheet works to care for his grandad, despite the resentment between them, and the two develop a connection that blossoms into a romance.
But even this new relationship comes with risk. Lauren’s half-sister is Kerry, a veteran Detective Inspector with a Merseyside Police task force dedicated to fighting criminal gangs. Kerry has her own tortured history with criminal men, and Cheet is exactly the kind of man she has devoted her life to stopping.
The Hidden Past
Family has never been easy for Cheet. His mother died in childbirth, and he has never known his father, not even his name. He’s always insisted that he didn’t care but in truth has been subconsciously searching for him his entire life.
But little does Cheet know, by entering this tortured new world of crime, he has taken one significant step closer to finding the man he’s been looking for.
